The Touriseum steps into virtual worlds

The Touriseum has created a new multimedia computer tour, to be presented on Friday, 10 October from 1700 onwards at Trauttmansdorff Castle. Following the presentation, Josef Rohrer will chair a debate on the topic of the use of Multimedia in Museums.

Virtual Tour: Friday, 10 October from 1700

The Touriseum is stepping into new, virtual worlds: together with the 3D-Pixel company, the South Tyrolean Tourism Museum has now created a computer-based tour of the Touriseum. Most of the exhibition rooms as well as the South Tyrol game can be viewed from a wide variety of perspectives from 360 degrees and the special effects in the various locations can be replayed. Peter Daldos from 3D-Pixel will be presenting the virtual tour in the Deustersaal at Trauttmansdorff Castle.

The question is: to what extent should a museum use and depend on multimedia techniques for its mission of cultural communication? Can museums even survive without the latest media technologies? These questions will be addressed in a wide-ranging debate, chaired by Josef Rohrer, following the presentation of the new “Virtual Tour” of the Touriseum.
